A social worker is a qualified professional whose aim it is to help, prevent, solve problems, and phenomenons of marginalization involving elderly people, disabled people, people with mental health problems, as well as people with learning and physical disabilities, school non-attenders, minors, drug and alcohol abusers, and immigrants. The task of a social worker is to identify situations and events of marginalization, to get in touch with people, to analyse their needs and agree on a project to intervene or to signal to judicial authorities cases which need an intervention (abuses, minors).
