Since 1995 for the Rome Marathon, which has been renewed over the years, thousands of people run or walk through the city streets together with the international marathon champions. During the Rome Marathon everyone can be a protagonist and enjoy this nice competition.The Rome Marathon continues thorugh the best Roman squares like Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps, and then on to the Coloseum, along to the Roman Forum where the competition terminates. This can be an occasion not only for the fans of the running but also for whom is coming to Rome to visit the city. The participation to the Rome Marathon is open to all the professional runners with a minimum cost for the registration; all the runners are divided into classifications as male or female, professionist or amateur runners. The disabled have a special category with its own prize-giving, official medals, videos and gadgets dedicated to their competition. The first three classified people of every category will receive a very rich prize. The non professional runners can participate in the competition with the Fun Run, called the Stracittadina, a competition of only 4 kilometres that in the last editions has registered about 60,000 people of every age, accompanied sometimes by their animals, with bikes or in other funny situations. At the Marathon Village, then, every night it is possible to participate to live events as live music or dancing, stands and other things: the village is open everyday for all the week before the competition date.
