Whether you are planning to dance the night away and make new friends in one of the great gay bars or clubs, or looking for Rome gay friendly hotels, restaurants, shops and beaches, in this Rome-explorer article you will find some useful tips. Rome gay scene is just a click away!
Rome gay scene is not as various and energetic as other European gay scenes, but also in the Eternal City you can find a large number of gay clubs, bars and a series of gay friendly places, such as shops, hotels, restaurants. For dancing, gay Rome has a highly energetic line-up, with many big gay circuit parties popping up, but also some regular weekly venues. Like everywhere in Italy, a membership card is required for the majority of gay saunas, bars and clubs, usually the Arcigay  UNO CLUB card. In Rome, the Arcigay card is also required for some of the gay parties. If you don't have one, you can usually purchase it at the entrance of the venues where it’s required. Amigdala is a queer culture party featuring electronic music, concerts, exhibitions, short films, video visuals. The events usually take place at Locanda Atlantide, in the Rome students and artists neighbourhood, San Lorenzo. That could be a good occasion for you to visit a very lively and interesting area far from the historic centre and Rome Gay Street. Another good place for dancing are the wild after hour parties organized by Frutta e Verdura. One of the most colourful and cruisy nights of Rome gay scene with a mixed gay, transsexual and straight crowd. If you happen to be in Rome during the Summer, you can’t miss the biggest event for Rome gay community, the Gay Village. From June to September, the Eur area of Rome becomes the centre of a gay village with spectacular drag shows, bears parties, circuit events, live concerts, films and more. This is one party not to be missed. Visiting Rome during the Summer could be a very rewarding and pleasurable experience, but a bit tiring too, if you’re not used to the intense heat which normally beings in June. So to escape from it, we recommend a day trip to the sea, and in particular to the less well-known Roman gay beach, Il Buco or Capocotta. Near the little coastal Rome neighbourhood of Ostia, there is a stretch of nude beach, mostly populated by the Rome gay community. And of course there are plenty of places to escape the sun and enjoy a cool beverage and Italian food. If you want to relax, but don’t feel like travelling on Roman public transport for more than an hour, you can go to Europa Multiclub, one of the biggest Rome gay saunas. A modern environment, with bar and a small gym, full of young people, but not only. Last but not least, as you very well know, Rome is shopping Heaven, so we’d like to recommend you a Rome gay friendly shop, Alcova  in piazza Sforza Cesarini, where you can buy fetish clothes and accessories. If you pop in to Alcova you might take home more than just a nice picture of the Coliseum. if you want other information to enjoy at the most Gay Rome scene, you can also check our pages Gay Bars Rome, Gay Hotels Rome  and Gay In Rome.
