Bingo, based on the drawing of ninety numbers, derives from the lottery and is very similar to traditional Italian bingo. Its origin is odd: it derives from a game played in Georgia which was named Beano because of dried beans used to cover on the game card of the extracted numbers. The first who covered all numbers should exclaim “Beano!”. Once a lucky winner, perhaps excited or unawere of the correct pronunciation, exclaimed: “Bingo!”. The game has been controlled by the Italian government since 2000 through AAMS. The Administration concedes the license fee to private citizens that invest. In Italy, Bingo is intented to entertain, socialize and spend free time. In 2006 Bingo, which is played by more than one million people, half attending Bingo rooms regularly, cashed in about 1.8 billion euros: more than 1.6 billion game cards were sold, 65% costing 1 euro. There are many Bingo parlors throughout Rome.
